Our story
Amsterdam Pâtisserie was created in 2023 by a French couple, Nicolas and Marine. Moving together to Amsterdam in 2019, we quickly fell in love with the city, especially its food scene. But with time we yearned for the nostalgic desserts of our childhoods—the chocolate religieuses, lemon tarts, and mini pastries from family gatherings.
Marine’s love for baking began with her grandmother at age 14, learning to make Paris-Brest and choux pastry. Nicolas, as he grew older, discovered a passion for cooking, finding the kitchen an exciting new territory.
Our approach to baking isn’t about high pretension or inventiveness but about capturing the generous, indulgent flavors we remember—infused with orange blossom, spiced with sweet vanilla, or enriched with rum. These flavors remind us of French village bakeries, which are now sorely missed by our friends in Amsterdam. Whether making a galette des rois for our Dutch friends or reminiscing about home, these flavors bring comfort and joy.
This shared passion led to the creation of Amsterdam Pâtisserie. We wanted to offer not just pastries but a slice of our childhood, a taste of our memories, and a way to connect with others through the joy of baking. We hope to bring a bit of sweetness into your life just as it has into ours.
